Make a List of your Favorites
The first step in making a useful and workable plan, is creating a list of all of your absolute favorite keto-friendly foods.
Crazy for bacon and hamburgers? Love eggs and cheese? Add it all to your list.
Once you have a good clear picture of an enjoyable way of eating keto, make your list! Take it with your grocery shopping and put all of those things in your cart.
Stock your fridge and and prep up any quick snacks you can store for the week. Then enjoy these keto diet foods through out the day as needed.
Keep the Grocery List Going
The worst thing you could do when on a diet like keto, is to run out of your favorite staple foods.
Keep your list in plain sight, posted on the fridge or in a special designated spot, so whoever goes grocery shopping can grab it on their way out and pick up all of your favorites keto-friendly foods and supplies.
Running out of your staples will leave you at risk of convincing yourself to stray and binge after all that hard work!
Revisit Your List Often
Make sure to revisit your brainstorm list of foods every now and again to change things up and keep in interesting.
The quickest way to derail your new ketogenic diet is to forget what you wanted more of!
And yes, it does happen.
You’ve probably heard that avocados are all the rage during keto, and think to yourself “I love avocados!” only to completely forget to grab them for the next 6 months, simply because they weren’t part of your normal grocery shopping habits.
That’s why brainstorming your grocery list is so important!
Grab Useful Kitchen Items
You’ll want to grab a few special items as you embark on your keto eating plan. There are a few things that have been invaluable for us in sticking with our diet.
I suggest grabbing some useful kitchen gadgets. They don’t have to be expensive or take up tons of space.
For instance one of my most used kitchen appliances is this inexpensive immerssion blender.
It’s a small hand held blender that I use nearly every day for mixing eggs, pancake batter and blending soups while they are still in the pot.
It’s super easy to clean and takes up nearly zero space.
A food processor is also a frequently used kitchen gadget of ours. It chops onions and veggies super fast allowing me to whip up meals quickly without hours of chopping.
It literally cuts my cooking time in half.
Make on the go easy
If you find yourself on the go often, these items will be especially helpful.
Whether you’re taking meals to work or just need to be out for the day, these will allow you to have your food on the run, which is essential not to feel like you’re depriving yourself.
Try keeping these items stocked and ready for use.
A Small cooler
A small portable cooler can make on the go life so much easier!
You can use the classic plastic type, such as a playmate, but you could also just use a small efficient lunch box.
Then you can bring your keto lunch and snack items to work with you. You can eat lunch in your office or even in your car if your on the go.
You and your cooler can travel together anywhere you go and you’ll never have to worry about being stuck without food.
Your cooler will be key to having take-along, keto-friendly foods to keep you full and satisfied.
Although your cooler is useful for keeping foods cold, it won’t work for long unless you have freezer packs to go inside.
Keep at least 4 of them in the freezer, that way if you accidentally forget one somewhere, you’ll have spares ready at hand.
Some of your keto-friendly foods will need to be kept cold, so you want to make sure you’re fully stocked with freezer packs. Get around 4 of them, this way if you accidentally leave one someplace, such as in a friend’s freezer, you’ll still have backup.
Make sure to pop your melted packs back in the freezer at the end of the day so you’ll be ready to pack your cold foods next time you’re ready to be on the go again.
Storage contains are another super useful keto tool. The smaller the better, as they’ll fit easily into your cooler.
Then you can portion out your different foods for meals and snacks through out the day.
There are all types of useful and neat type of containers. You can get nice plastic ones, glass ones or even those flimsy plastic ones if you worried you’ll loose them.
You can even keep leftover containers from eating take out food from restaurants. I personally love those black ones with clear lids that come from Chinese take out.
Plastic Ziploc bags
Another useful item is plastic ziploc bags!
You can easily pack more food into your cooler or lunch box if you have ziploc bags, which can mold into the empty spaces.
Get a few different sizes so that you’ll be ready for whatever foods you’ll want to pack.
From small sandwhich bags to quart sized and gallon bags. Grab a few freezer bags too as you’ll be able to double some meals and freeze the left overs.
Making an easy meal for busy days when you have no time to cook.
Getting into the habit of food preping will make all the difference for sticking with your keto diet.
Make sure to add your disposable supplies to your grocery list so that you keep well stocked and never have an excuse to cheat on your diet.
Making your life easier on the keto diet is essential to keep you satisfied and happy.
